Call it ... ! Call it ... what? Calling out of context would possibly be the best way to describe Christian Naujoks on his untitled debut album, which is now going to be released on Dial Records. A composer of contemporary music, a singer/songwriter, an electronic music producer, a pop musician or maybe a conceptual sound artist - either way you name it, you won‘t entirely get to Christian Naujoks‘s profile. Starting off with a set of precisely composed post-minimal pieces for piano and marimbas, carefully recorded on analogue tape at Tobias Levin‘s electric avenue studios, the album leads you in the same way surprising as tenderly through a wide horizon of sonic impressions: from the indeterminate chamber music of “Two Epilogues” and the intimate vocals on the New Order version “Off The Rose”, to the subtle sound sculpturing of “Light Over The Ranges”, which could be the best prelude to a typical Dial night at Panoramabar. It is the simply unheard of 12-tone R‘n‘B piece “Bloom” in which Webern, Can and the artist formerly known as Prince seem to collide to form a blutopian party. Can‘t wait for the future? Join the mean-time radio hour with your host Christian Naujoks.
